Promoting sustainable development outcomes in the Lower Mekong region presents scientific, management and governance challenges. Project activities are designed to advance a sophisticated understanding of the water-food-energy nexus and to help meet regional decision-makers’ need for research-driven policy analysis in support of sustainable development goals.

2017 Lower Mekong Policy Forum on Energy, Agriculture, and Natural Resources, Da Nang, Vietnam

07 – 08 December 2017

The Lower Mekong Policy Forum is an annual event. Its themes this year are energy, agriculture, and natural resource management. Meeting in Da Nang City, Vietnam on December 07 & 08, the Forum examines recent research findings and stimulates policy dialogue on energy development, the transformation of agriculture, and efficiently managing natural resources. Participants in the Forum include policymakers, researchers, representatives of regional agencies, LMPPI’s research partners, and other stakeholders.

Lower Mekong Policy Forum on Environment, Agriculture, and Livelihoods, Siem Reap, Cambodia

The Lower Mekong Policy Forum on Environment, Agriculture, and Livelihoods was held at the Sokha Ankhor Hotel in Siem Reap, Cambodia, August 11-12.  Over 130 senior government officials, researchers, practitioners, civil society representatives, and members of the business community participated in the forum.


Consultative Workshop, Can Tho, Viet Nam

Cuu Long 1 Research Team and Cuu Long 2 Research Team have finished the household survey phase and entered into the data analysis to produce the project outputs. For this reason, In March 2016, LMPPI project held a three-day consultative workshop at Mekong Development Institute of Can Tho University in order to discuss the draft data analysis results and project outputs with the two research teams.

Workshop on Resource Governance and Agricultural Restructuring in the Context of Inter-regional Linkages in the Mekong River Delta, Can Tho, Viet Nam

The workshop was jointly organized by LMPPI and the South-west Steering Committee (SWSC). With more than 50 participants from various government departments and 6 research institutes throughout the Mekong River Delta (MRD), the workshop provided local government officials, academics, and other stakeholders with an overview of the role and interrelation between regional linkages and effective resource governance, agricultural restructuring and sustainable development in the context of climate change.

Water, Land and Ecosystems (WLE) Conference, Phnom Penh Cambodia

21-23 October 2015

Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) Research Program on Water, Land and Ecosystems (WLE) invited three members of the LMPPI team to attend the 2015 Greater Mekong Forum on Water, Food, and Energy. The forum was held in Phnom Penh from 21 to 23 October 2015.
